Using the Team Discussion
Hello,
I am new to SharePoint 2007 and I want to ask a question about using the Team Discussion feature.
My question is that, I found that each site members can freely modify the posts made by others. Am I right on that? If yes then I would think that it is not what an ordinary user would expect.
Can I change the permission in the discussion forum in such a way that:
1. Every user has the permission to edit the posts they made, but they cannot delete the post if there are replies.
2. Except site onwers, every user cannot change the posts made by other users.
Is that possible? Please advise.

Hi Norman,
Through Item level permissions you can achieve this some how.
For this go to Team Discussion--->Settings--->Discussion Board settings-->Advanced Settings-->Item level permissions. Thanks & Regards, Neerubee

Thanks for your response; but do you mean that every time after a member posted a message in the team discussion, he or she has to do the item level permissions? That sounds really wierd!

It is not required each time, once you set in the Advanced settings then it is fine. Please test your self by posting some discussions. Thanks & Regards, Neerubee

Thanks for your response. I thought a member has to change permission on item-to-item basis. I will try it.
