Using Macros for Word documents in SharePoint Online

Hi, 

Is it possible to use Word document temples with embedded Macros in SharePoint Online? Each are stored in a standard document library.

Though wondered if there's been any developments on this front?

Macros are a Word client function only. They will not function in say, Word Online viewer.

Even if the document opens in the local client, not in the Online version?
