Using ConstantSpecifier to store custom parameters
Hi, Is it possible to use ConstantSpecifier or any other object type from FIM Schema to store parameters which could be referenced in FIM. For example: when creating the synchronization rule...instead of specifying : "CN="+displayName+",OU=Users, DC=Contoso, DC=com" for the DN attribute....It will be great to provide: "CN="+displayName+domainSuffixStr. domainSuffixStr could be a of type ConstantSpecifier and the value of which will be ",OU=Users,DC=Contoso, DC=com". DN may not be a good example for this as it doesnot change that often. But there might be other parameters which may need to be changed as needed. If required, it is easier to change a ConstantSpecifier rather than changing the Synchronization Rule (Also it might introduce other errors into the SR) Appreciate your help in understanding this. Hi Jameel, This would be a useful feature. As a workaround I've resorted to running find-replace script on the config transfer XML-file. There's a similar feature request on the Microsoft Connect. Vote it up, maybe we'll see this feature in future versions. https://connect.microsoft.com/site433/feedback/details/519575/feature-request-parameters-for-synchronization-rules /Lari

I just posted the specifics of the string replacement workaround I used on the above feature request, and noted that there is an exception which occurs here ... and that's when you need to specify a constant in a sync rule which is a GUID that can NOT be resolved to any object in the FIM database (in my case this is an AD policy guid).
