Users Request Exchange Mailbox
Hello Everyone, I am new to FIM but learning as I go. I am using Windows Server 2008 with Exchange Server 2010. I am trying to implement an option throw FIM that gives normal users the ability to request an exchange mailbox. Any ideas how to do that?Regards, John Atick

John, Yes it is possible to do this. A common way to do this is to add a boolean checkbox to the user creation and editing RCDCs. You can then create a criteria-based set that includes only users who have this new attribute set to true. Of course, then you use and MPR to fire a workflow that implements an outbound sync rule to add the required attributes to the AD object to make it a mailbox(mailNickname, msExchHomeServerName, etc...). The good thing about doing it this way is you can also have another workflow that removes these attributes from a user so if the checkbox is set to false later you can deprovision the mailbox after the fact.
