The requirement for our project is that a new user should be able to access FIM portal through a link which should take him to a registration page in FIM and then he should register himself . How can an unregistered user access FIM portal and register himself through some registration page. Please can any one help us in this aspect.

Thanks for the response. What we intend to achieve is to allow users to register themselves and and create their own accounts through FIM. He can choose his own acount name and passoword (some password policies will be pre configured) and an email address. After the registration, he should get an email to activate the link and once he does that he gets an activated account. Is this not possible through the FIM portal.

FIM is really intended to be an Identity Management product for enterprise. People in a company usually don't register for themselves. Your scenario isn't supported out-of-box. What you can do is to write an app that run as someone with privilege to create user account. Also add your custom AuthZ activity which will send an activation email.
