User profile created before synchronization with AD

I need some help with one user profile.  Here is what happened:

- user User1 was created in AD

- Before any synchronization occurred, my co-worker went to Central Admin->user profile service app->Manage Profiles, clicked "Create new profile" and created a profile for this user

- Now, the work phone number, that was set in Sharepoint user profile, is not being exported to AD (this field is configured to export to AD during synchronization and it does so for all other employees).

So, what is the difference between waiting for Sharepoint to automatically create a user profile vs creating it in Central Admin-> Manage Profiles?  And most importantly, how do we fix it now?  Should I just delete this profile from Sharepoint and run full synchronization?

thanks,

Hi,

According to your description, I have done a test.

  1. Before any synchronization occurred, I went to Central Admin->user profile service app->Manage Profiles, clicked "Create new profile" and created a profile for a user who has existed in AD.
  2. I set the work phone number in SharePoint user profile which is different from the AD user.
  3. Run full synchronization.
  4. The user profile created from CA was updated by the AD user.

per my test, I got the conclusion that:

You doesn't need to delete this profile from SharePoint,  run full synchronization, then the user profile created from CA will be updated by AD user automatically.
