User migration, deletion and recreation in Sharepoint Online (Office 365)?

Hello there,

I did ask this question in the Office 365 community (https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/p/405523/998647#998647). But those "high tech" questions are usually answered very poorly. To save myself the frustration of reading answers that don't even apply on the question, I wanted to give this forum a shot. I guess there are a lot more specialists here :)

So the problem I am facing is that I had a Cloud user "Mark Twain (m.twain@example.com)". That user is also present in our Active Directory as "Twain, Mark (m.twain@example.com)". I activated DirSync, but due to both Twains sharing the same logon name, it was impossible to synchronize the Active Directory user to the Cloud. So I renamed the Cloud user and the Active Directory user was then syncronized. Afterwards I deleted the Cloud user "Mark Twain (m.twain2@example.com)".

In short:

  1. Have Cloud user "Mark Twain (m.twain@example.com)"
  2. Have Active Directory User "Twain, Mark (m.twain@example.com)"
  3. Installed DirSync
  4. Conflict between Cloud and Active Directory User
  5. Renamed Cloud User from "Mark Twain (m.twain@example.com)" -> "Mark Twain (m.twain2@example.com)" (added the character 2)
  6. Sync was successful
  7. Deleted "Mark Twain (m.twain2@example.com)"

Now two things happened:

  1. I forgot to save a copy of the contents of the personal website of the Cloud user.
  2. My Active Directory user "Twain, Mark (m.twain@example.com)" got assigned the personal website h**ps://example-my.sharepoint.com/personal/m_twain_example_com1 (character 1 was appended)

This is what I want to achieve (I love lists! ):

  1. Download a full copy of the contents of the personal site of the Cloud user "Mark Twain (m.twain2@example.com)". The user was deleted from the Cloud (Office 365) but is still present when connecting to Sharepoint Online via Powershell and running Get-SPOUser -Site [h**ps://example-my.sharepoint.com].
  2. Delete the old user completely
  3. Move h**ps://example-my.sharepoint.com/personal/m_twain_example_com1 to h**ps://example-my.sharepoint.com/personal/m_twain_example_com (without the character 1)
    - or-
simply delete and recreate the personal site from "Twain, Mark (m.twain@example.com)" without the character 1.

Thing is: I have no clue how to achieve that and I need your help! I don't even know how to start.

Thanks in advance!

Eventually I called Phone Support. They are the best. Fixed. Nothing I could do, they had to fix this internally.
