The sharepoint users are currently in the oldDomain. ADMT was used for migrating users from one forest to another. Then our SharePoint admin ran Move-SPUser Identity "oldDomain\user1" NewAlias "newDomain\user1 .
All was good till we found that newsfeeds were not working properly. My SP admin discussed with Microsoft Premier support. MS acknowledged this as a bug and god knows when will they fix it. However , I found that many others have faced this issue and solved it ( but none mentioned the solution in detail ) If anyone of you has faced this then please help. My SP admin mentioned 3 issues -:
1. If the user is following someone or has added a post, it appears in the newsfeed as User profile pic, username followed by the post. After the migration, the profile picture and the username disappears and only the post can be seen.
2. issues with MySites as the username will change from user1@oldDomain.com to user1@newDomain.com . SO if someone was following a document shared by user1, then that reference is not updated.
3. It appears that newsfeed content stored in the Microfeed lists in mySites and TeamSites have static/absolute references to user accounts. Move-SP user doesn't tackle that.
BTW , I am an accidental SharePoint Project Manager. Whatever I have learned about SP is by the virtue of AD migration I am working on. Please bear if I have mentioned some stuff incorrectly or probably used incorrect lingo.
