User cannot open reports from Report Builder 3.0
Hi we have a user who gets the following error when trying to open the location ('Open Report' in Report Builder) where his reports are stored:
"Unable to open or save the file.
The permissions granted to the current user are insufficient for performing the operation."
In Site Settings, the user is a 'System User'. Under Folder Settings->Security the user has Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher and Report Builder roles for the location where his reports are.
The user can run his reports ok.
Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2.

Hi thanks for that - I didn't have to do anything as all the permissions above were already selected!

Hi There
Thanks for your posting. I was thinking that you have done this inside report manager, I did not aware off that you have done inside SSMS by connecting to reporting
services. This is what I was talking about, a screenshot to clarify my opinion
I hope this will help
Many thanks

Hi Peggs,
From your description, do you mean that all of the five Item-level roles (Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher and Report Builder) are assigned to the user on the target folder? If not, please make sure either Report Builder or Content Manager
role is assigned to this user.
If the issue persists although the Item-level permissions are configured properly, the issue may be related to the authentication type. The Report Builder always runs as a separate process on the client computer. The process identity is the default Windows
user credentials. If the report server is configured for a different authentication type, the server will fail requests from Report Builder with an authentication error. To work around this issue, we need to configure a server for Windows integrated
security. To do this, please follow the steps below:
1. Start Management Studio and connect to the Reporting Services server type.
2. Right-click the report server node, and select Properties.
3. Click Advanced to open the properties page. Set the EnableIntegratedSecurity to True.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
The user has all of the five Item-level roles assigned on each folder.
EnableIntegratedSecurity is set to True.
The only thing I can think of is there's a named instance on this server (which is clustered) which also uses its own instance of Report Server but we have no problems with that. It must be Report Builder related I think.
I might open an incident with Microsoft.
Thanks for your help!

Hi peggs,
Thanks for your posting.
As per your reply, I would suggest opening a case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) (http://support.microsoft.com), so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist you in a more
efficient manner.
