User Profile Synchronization stops when I try to start it up

I'm on SharePoint 2013 and I am having problems starting User Profile Synchronization service. User Profile Synchronization just stops right away. I try to start it as the farm service account, and the service account is local admin. But still nothing. Why is this?

I also can't open miisclient.exe to debug. It says: "Unable to connect to the synchronization service. Some possible reasons are: 1) The service is not started. 2)Your account is not a member of required security group."

I am trying to start the service so I can sync to AD. Get profile pictures etc.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Marius,

I would walk through this: http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx

Did UPS ever work, or is this the first time you've tried to provision it?

Thank you. I will walk through it.

No, this is the first time. Why?

Edit: User Profile Service is started, but not User Profile Service Sync.
