User Profile Synchronization is not provisioned, but User Profile services are started.

Hello,

I am trying to configure user profile synchronization connections, and SharePoint says that the User Profile is not currently provisioned and the service is not running and asks me to start the User Profile Synchronization service.

SharePoint 2010 and the server say the following:

  1. User Profile Service Application is started
  2. User Profile Service is started
  3. User Profile Synchronization Service is started
  4. Forefront Identity Manager Service is started
  5. Forefront Identity Synchronization Service is started  

So, I am not sure why SharePoint says User Profile Synchronization is not provisioned when the services seem to be started.

Can you offer some suggestions on what is going on

Are there multiple servers in your farm?  Is it running on another server?

Single server in one farm. SharePoint and SQL Server and all of the services are on the same server.

If you recently provisioned the UPS you need to reset IIS before you can create the sync

Have  you created Managed Metadata service application? If resstart doesn't work then create Manage metadata service application and the
