User Profile Synchronization Service not starting

I am unable to get the synchronization service started. I am using SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2014 w/SP1.

Tried all possible solutions. using farm account which is in the local administrator group.

Any Ideas?

Two Suggestions.

  1. Check out Spence Harbar's troubleshooting guide.  Its written for 2010, but all the steps are still applicable  - http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups2.aspx
  2. Make sure that the regular User Profile service is started on the server.  It isn't always started by default and if its not running on at least one server the sync service won't start either.

Does the service status stay as "Starting" or does it eventually go back to "Stopped"?

I would recommend monitoring the ULS logs in real time at the point you attempt to start the service (maybe filter by the 'User Profiles' category to make it easier to read).

Try to delete the User Profile Service, and its proxy and recreate a new one. I had to do the same thing whenever it didn't start..

UPDATE: Also try out this microsoft technet article:http://technet.microsoft.com/library/gg750257(office.14).aspx

It eventually goes to "Stopped" after 10 min.

Error:

UserProfileApplication.SynchronizeMIIS: Failed to configure MIIS post database, will attempt during next rerun. Exception: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: ERR_CONFIG_DB

Many fixes suggested to install April 2014 CU for SQL 2014. but I am already using SP1 which includes that.

Hello Shravan

First of all let me ask you do you require user profile synchronistion and Active directory import is not an option for you.

If the above answer is "NO" please find my blog which will help you doing the profile synchronisation without any of the difficult situations.
