I have created a new synchoronization connection targeting my Trusted Claims Provider in UPSA. I select my Authentication Provider Instance, which gets populated after selecting Trusted Claims Provider Authentication. I fill in the service account with its password (yes, it has the replicate permission) and pick the containers. When I hit OK to save the settings, however, it automatically sets the value to the Windows Authentication provider type without an error/warning! Nothing leads in ULS. Any idea why this is happening? I have a web app with Windows Claims and an extended web app with ADFS/SAML. MySite is Windows Claims and I have only one user profile sync connection.

For this issue, I recommend to check the things below:

1. Make sure that the trusted claims provider is configured correctly and the users from the trusted claims provider can access SharePoint site.
2. Please create a new connection to see if the issue still occurs.
3. Please provide a screenshot of the synchronization connection for further research.
