The hidden list /_catalogs/users/simple.aspx contains users who have left the organization. This is a major irritant for users as the names appear in this list when using people pickers, etc. The User Profiles in the SSP only have active AD users since our LDAP connection excludes disabled accounts. I believe the Quick Profile Synchronization and Profile Synchronization timer jobs are supposed to keep the User Info lists in each site collection in sync with the profiles. These jobs run but do not remove users from the user info lists. There are no errors reported from these two jobs. I have also run these commands manually as suggested by some blogs:- stsadm -o sync -listolddatabases <x number of days> stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases <x number of days> stsadm -o sync I have also written a console app to check the users in User Info List and the IsActive attribute as others have suggested if this is false the users will never synchronize with the profiles. no joy with this either. Is it expecting too much for the User Info List to maintain a level of synchronisation with the profiles?
