Urgent issues : Moving from Brio to SSRS.
We have just completed a project conveting adhoc reports from BRIO to SSRS. Project is in UAT phase and client has raised some issue. 1. Brio was faster in rendering reports then SSRS.SSRS takes more time than BRIO in running reports. 2. Drop down filter slow in populating in SSRS. 3. Analysis can be done in SSRS. What I feel is it fair to compare BRIo and SSRS. Please help me with above queries, I need to get back to client.

Hi Hiradyavan, Question 1: In Reporting Services, if a report is processing slowly, we can consider caching the report or running it as a snapshot. For more information about Performance (Reporting Services), please refer to the article below: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522786(v=SQL.105).aspx Question 2: Do you mean you need to change the parameters locations in a report? If so, this is a known issue of Reporting Services. Reporting Services does not support the custom arrangement of parameters. However, we can create our own application by using ReportViewer control to achieve this. For more information, please see: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/reporting-services/SQLRSViewer.aspx Question 3: When we select data source type Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, we are selecting a Reporting Services data processing extension that extends the .NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft Analysis Services. For more information, please see: • Analysis Services Connection Type for MDX (SSRS) • Analysis Services Connection Type for DMX (SSRS) • XML for Analysis Overview (XMLA) Thanks, Bin LongPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
