Upgrading Application Server Storage

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. I am a new in the IT industry. I work as an IT Technician. In my organization there is a HP DL380 G7 Server acting as Application Server which runs couple of different Hyper-V VMs. It has internal storage of around 1 TB consisting of several hard drives. The storage capacity is almost full. Instead of purchasing an external storage server or device, I would like to increase the internal storage of the server by upgrading the hard drive capacity. I want to replace the current chunks of hard drives with a few new 2 TB hard drives. It will increase the storage capacity. How can I perform this action? Further how to transfer all of the files/data including the OS and System files onto the new hard drives? Really appreciate your time and response. Thanks.. Cheers!!

Hi,

The main problem is to transfer your system onto your new disks. Generally we could perform a bare matal backup and restore to your new hard disks.

After that, you can merge data to your new hard disks. Merge data files is easier as no system is involved. You can use Robocopy or backup-restore to do this job.
