Upgraded sites missing Summary Link Webpart
I've attempting toadd a Summary Link web part to an old site, however this doesn't appear in the available listof webparts. Any new site that I've created has this option. The only thing that I can think of is that this is an older site from SharePoint 2003 and now after an upgrade to 2007, it didn't get the new webpart. I've tried to export a working summary linkwebpart fromanother siteand importing it to this and it fails with the error :Unable to add selected web part(s). Could not load XSL file. The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) I also tried exporting it from the root page from thet gallery and importing it into the gallery of this site but it still fails with the same error. Common sense would suggest that I figure out where the XSL file is supposed to be. etc but I don't know what to do for that. I tried to search for a while on this but I haven't found anything particularly helpful yet. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thank you for your time. Any help is appreciated.

After an upgrade you need to turn on v3 functionality for v2 sites that have been upgraded.Have you done this ? (If you don't you won't for instance see the recycle bin)WSS FAQ sites: WSS 2.0: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007: http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language titles) http://wss.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSSv3%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

You may need to turn on the publishing feature for that site. I vaguely recall from a year+ ago that it's part of the publishing infrastructure and that probably isn't going to be turned on during a V2 -> V3 conversion.--Paul Galvin of EMC Consulting, New York area Microsoft MVP - SharePoint Blogging @ http://feeds.feedburner.com/PaulGalvinsSharepointSpace Twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/pagalvin

Fantastic. This was the issue and now that I have search terms to use (publishing), I found out how to enable these features. For future reference, the solution is detailed here:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc627257.aspxIn a nutshell, go to Site Settings -> Site Collection Features -> Click "Activate" next to Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure.Thank you for your help.

One other scenario where I saw the same issue in MOSS 2007that you are having: I had the summary link web part on a page that is part of a publishing-enabled site that I use to create a site template. I then loaded the site templat to central admin through stsadm and used this site template to create a new site collection Despite the fact that the publishing featured were enabled, I had the same "Could not load XSL file" that you encountered. I deactivated the publishing features at the site and site collection level and then re-enabled them. Everything worked fine after that.
