Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro fails constantly

I have a (legal)  version of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits and earlier this year I got the notification I qualified for the upgrade to Windows 10 (Pro) so I reserved it.

Then I got a notification saying it was READY so I had some questions about that because I wanted a clean install. See the referenced thread here:

   https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dbe2663d-5d69-43a5-b31e-e23d2c6c8596/clean-install-instead-of-plain-upgrade?forum=win10itprosetup

Now, though I constantly get a reminder to install I have NOT gone ahead with it. However, I noticed that last week it had been trying to install some update over and over again. Today I looked and Windows Update on my PC and to my surprise....

I only presents me with an option to upgrade to Windows 10. I also noticed that it says that some updates have failed. I looked at it and to my surprise I see:

Date Status Name

31.aug Failed Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
27.aug Failed GDR-DU: Cumulative update for Windows 10 for x64 based systems (KB3081448)
26.aug Failed Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
25.aug Success Security Update for MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 (KB2538242)
25.aug Failed Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
24.aug Success Security Update for MS Outlook 2010 (KB3055041) 32-bit edition
24.aug Failed Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
24.aug Failed Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
     :

And I see more of those Windows 10 Pro upgrade failures at earlier dates. Now, I think it is wise to think that if I click on the Upgrade button (Every day it asks me to schedule the upgrade) the result would be the same FAILURE because there is something that it is not letting it upgrade successfully (even though I did not click on the upgrade button so far).

Perhaps Good To Know

A few weeks ago I also started having a problem where I could no longer build any .NET application, my machine shows in Control Panel every .NET version since 3.5, plus I have Visual Studio 2010/2013, SQL Server, etc. (I am a developer).

I got literally no help from Microsoft. Other programs that depended on .NET stopped working. I uninstalled older versions leaving only 4.5 and 4.5.1 on the control panel. STill same issues, I had to remove Outlook, VS.2010 and reinstall some to get them to work. I can no longer install 4.0.

And much trouble -especially with the fact that downloading those big packages i sVERY SLOW on my 1Mbps connection!- it started working again.

A few days ago as I indicated above, Update installed some things again and broke my system again. So my VS fails to compile or clean anything below .NET 4.5. So if those Win 10 things are dependent on .NET 4.0 it won't work.

So, I think there is some sort of .NET corruption that might be causing Win 10 upgrade to also fail. Yes, I tried the REPAIR INSTALLATION option in the control panel but that did not repair anything. I checked my disks and they are

Hi,

According to your description, this problem seems like is most probably relate with .net framework. Please check Windows update history carefully if there is any .net framework related update was installed on your system, if that it is, try to remove them from system for test.

On the other hand, access to Programs and Features on Control Panel, then open turn Windows Feature on or off. Make sure .net framework 3.5 was checked.
