Upgrade path for new install
I am getting ready to build a new WFE for our farm and I wanted to check the proper upgrade path. 1. SP1 (WSS+MOSS) 2. SP2 (WSS+MOSS) 3. April 2009 CU (WSS+MOSS) 4. June 2009 CU (WSS+MOSS) 5. August 2009 CU (WSS+MOSS) 6. October 2009 CU (WSS+MOSS) 7. December 2009 CU (WSS+MOSS) Is this correct? The service packs roll up all of the cumulative updates in between, yes?

afaik the cumulative packs include the previous cumultative pack so you only need one set. for sure the SP packs replace each other so you don't need SP1 AND SP2 - just SP2 (and depending on when SP2 came out that probably includes several Cumulative packs FAQ sites: (SP 2010) http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com; (v3) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com and (WSS 2.0) http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com Complete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site.

To follow on Mike's comments, you should just need to apply SP2 and the latest Cumulative Update (right now is Dec 2009). SP2 will roll up SP1, and the Dec 2009 CU will roll up all the CUs that have been released since SP2 was released. (Keep in mind that if you have any language packs that you're deploying to the environment, you'll also need to check for updates directly to them in addition to the WSS/MOSS updates).
