Upgrade from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2
Hello everybody, I am having this hard time understanding how the sequence of the upgrade process should take place. Do I first need to upgrade our SCOM to CU4 and then move the databases from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2, or is it the other way around, first I migrate the databases and Reporting Services to a SQL 2008 R2 server and last install CU4 on the whole SCOM environment? Can you please share some thoughts? Thank you.

Hi You'll need to upgrade your core OpsMgr servers (SQL Servers \ RMS \ Management Servers \ Gateways) to CU4 before migrating the databases themselves to SQL 2008 R2. You can upgrade the agents over time but the core components need upgrading at the same time. Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
