Upgrade a SPPS 2010 Site to SPPS 2013 / reports and data structured for visits
Hi,

We currently have a SPPS 2010 installation running. We needed to generate information about visits to the site and specific web pages and we used Web Analytics, but we didnt have the results expected. Because we have a lot of web parts in the site, we assume that these affect the report results since it counts the objects with-in these webparts as sites. Then we reviewed the information in the SPPS database, to see if we could obtain the information desired and work it with a BI,  but we found that the information can not be easily manipulated, the way it is structured.
We are looking in to the possibility to upgrade our SPPS 2010 site to SPPS 2013, to see if this new version has new different options for reports that will give us better results.

with this insite, we would like to know:

1. if upgrading to SPPS 2013 will give us a better way to review the data, with new reports or structure the info in the database in a different way?
2. Is it possible, technically, to upgrade to SPPS 2013 a SPPS 2010 site that has 90% webparts in it and what considerations do we have to consider?

Hi Gte,

What is SPPS? I am wondering whether it is SharePoint PerformancePoint Service.

In SharePoint Server 2013, PerformancePoint Services offers certain new features to support business intelligence applications.

  • Dashboard Migration
  • Filter Enhancements & Filter
  • Search BI Center Update
  • Support for Analysis Services Effective User

More information about PerformancePoint Services in SharePoint 2013, you can refer to:

When you upgrade a site, if there are some customizations about web parts or others, to make them work in SharePoint 2013, you also need to upgrade and delpoy these customizations in SharePoint 2013.

If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply.

Best Regards,

Wendy
