I am working on an assignement on an upgrade to FIM 2010. Currently we have 2 forests and GALSync.dll is bieng used. It has also been customized. My question is that when we move from ILM 2007 to FIM 2010, do we also need to re-customize the GALSync.dll. Can anyone please suggest a better way of achieving the same. Thanks and Regards/Harpreet

Also an update. As far as the customization is concerned. They are for Exchange Server attributes like : Proxyaddresses, messagerestriction etc. Can anyone please help on this, as it is little urgent.

It depends on the customization. I've just done an ILM-FIM migration and I didn't need to do anything to the galsync dll apart from compile it with the new library. If they've just added a few flow rules it should be fine. If they've done any inventive things involving advanced reference flows, or 32-bit libraries, then you could have trouble.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Thanks Carol. Let me also share some more details. One forest has Exchange 2003 and other has Exchange 2007. We have ILM FP1 used to do GAL Sync. I would like to know following things - 1. What would be the recommended migration path. Shall we upgrade Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 first or upgrade ILM to FIM 2010 ? 2. If we upgrade Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, would the Exchange Server schema upgrade break the existing GAL synchronization ?

If you are migrating from exchange 2003 to 2010 i will recommend you first upgrade your ILM 2007 Feature Pack to ILM 2007 feature pack SP1 or FIM 2010 because ILM 2007 feature pack (without service Pack ) doesn't support Exchange 2010.Xahid
