I have a domain windows server 2008 64 bit standard, then i want to upgrade our domain to windows server 2008 R2 64bit.

It is possible that my old domain will work into new domain using server 2008 R2 64bit?It is all registry and GPO will work?

Hi

You can inplace upgrade your server 2008 (64 bit) to server 2008 r2 (64 bit),All roles needs to Works after upgrade.

But i recommned that you could migrate from server 2008 to server 2008 r2,i always prefer to a clean installation server OS.

Also you can check this article about Migrate Server Roles to Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi,

here is also a Technet Document which will probably help you. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee522994(WS.10).aspx

But as Burak mentioned before i would not do an inplace upgrade. Instead do a clean Migration onto a new 2008R2 (or 2012R2 which would be the better choice)
