Updates could not be installed at this time. Waiting for the next maintenance window.

Hello,

Environnment :

Server : SCCM 2012 R2 SP1.

Client : Windows 7 x64

I found one computer with problems for download and install Patch tuesday updates.

On this computer, i found on UpdatesDeployment.log :

Checking for user-defined service window (non-business hours).

Suspend activity in presentation mode is selected

At least one user has elected to suspend non-business hours activity when in presentation mode. Checking for presentation mode.

Proceeding to non-business hours activites as presentation mode is off.

User-defined service window is available (non-business hours).

Auto install during non-business hours is disabled or never set, selecting only scheduled updates.

A user-defined service window(non-business hours) is available. We will attempt to install any scheduled updates.

Attempting to install 0 updates

No actionable updates for install task. No attempt required.

Install( arrspUpdates, eContentPriority, UPDATE_USE_USER_SERVICE_WINDOW | UPDATE_IGNORE_REBOOTWINDOW , 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, tempGuid, 0), HRESULT=87d00708 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\updatesmgmt\deploymentagent\updatesmanager.cpp,1595)

Updates could not be installed at this time. Waiting for the next maintenance window.

CCCMUpdatesDeployment::EnumerateUpdates called

Enumerate targeted updates for action = UpdateActionInstall

Total Updates = 1203

EnumerateUpdates for action (UpdateActionInstall) - Total actionable updates = 56

CUpdatesJobManager::AnyActiveInstallJobs - Returning true

CUpdatesJobManager::AnyActiveAssignmentJobs - Returning true

But, i checked on the report for be sure i don't have maintenance window and there's no one.

On an other way, in the WUHandler.log, the scan of missing updates looks good :

Update (Missing): Mise jour de scurit pour Windows 7 pour ordinateurs processeur x64 (KB3061518) (8bc7a4f8-5b85-4c95-ab3e-132c4eba5e2a, 200)

Leaf: 8c25fb43-0873-4c2e-a7da-f3249fb188d4, 200   Status: Missing

Update (Missing): Mise jour de scurit pour Windows 7 pour ordinateurs processeur x64 (KB3067903) (13fe64fa-334d-4d6a-8033-6f9a8fbe1307, 200)

Leaf: 03350b6c-02bd-472e-bdcc-12e12643e580, 200   Status: Missing

So i don't know what to do for install updates on this computer.

I already checked :

- Pending Reboot

- download job suspended with bitsadmin

- Wbemtest on root\ccm\SoftMgmtAgent (DownloadContentRequestEx2 and downloadinfoex2)

- WMI consistency

- CCMEval

- Others computer don't have problems with downloading/installing updates.

and everything is ok.

Could you give me some ideas or a solution please ?

thanks

did you look at the business hours configure locally on the client?

This might be the issue.

Thank for your reply.

Yes we have modified the business hours on computers.

So the updates can be installed 24/24.

Here the result of the service window (as you can see, business hours defined from 00:00 to 00:00)

All computers are like that.

Hello,

For be sure that's business hours is not the issue, i set 09:00 to 16:00 from monday to friday.

I keep this computer online all the night and no updates...

Other thing, SCEP definitions are installed without problems (and are present in CCMcache folder).

i'm loosing my mind :(

Hi,

What's the timestamp of "Updates could not be installed at this time. Waiting for the next maintenance window."? Is there a Maintenance Window available at that time?

Please use Deployment Monitoring tool to check the status of these updates from the client.

For these missing updates, you need to re-download and re-deploy them to clients. Because these updates do not exist in source directory(searched by unique ID).

Hello,

- No maintenance window available at that time (as you can see a little up).

- The timestamp is at 08:45 as you can see :

I'm not sure this is related to maintenance windows or business hours. The message "Waiting for next maintenance window" doesn't mean maintenance windows are set... Its just message saying it'll wait until updates are found as actionable, when you have no maintenance window set.

Can you check the ccmcache and see whether updates are downloaded?

As the problem is isolated to this one client, maybe try setting up a separate SUG for this one client, set all the user experience as show everything and install/restart outside maintenance windows.

See what happens when you do that?

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I'm working on this issue and got new informations.

After read the troubleshooting post here :

i finally stop WUAUSERV service and deleted %Windir%\softwaredistribution.

Now i found on windowsupdate.log these errors :

Hi,

Any update?

About this error "Exceeded max server round trips: 0x80244010", here is a resolution in the blog below.

Cause:

"The error, 0x80244010, means WU_E_PT_EXCEEDED_MAX_SERVER_TRIPS and happens when a client has exceeded the number of trips allowed to a WSUS server.  We have defined the maximum number of trips as 200 within code and it cannot reconfigured.  A trip to the server consist of the client going to the server and saying give me all updates within a certain scope.  The server will give the client a certain number of updates within this trip based on the size of the update metadata.  The server can send 200k worth of update metadata in a single trip so its possible that 10 small updates will fit in that single trip.  Other larger updates may require a single trip for each update if they exceed the 200k limit.  Due to the way Office updates are published you are more likely to see this error if youre syncing Office updates since their metadata is typically larger in size."

Resolution:

"If you are using ConfigMgr 2007 and using WSUS as a Software Update Point your workaround may be a little trickier.  For normal Software Updates synchronization again the first sync will fail but the second/third scheduled sync would succeed.  "

September 4th, 2015 2:20am

As the explanations telling to me, after delete %windir%\softwaredistribution, i got the error 0x80244010 but only at the first cycle, not after.

So the updates problem is again here.

I will try to use the script https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Install-All-Missing-8ffbd525

because when i check the ROOT\CCM\Client SELECT * FROM CCM_SoftwareUpdate

i can see there's 56 updates pending.

Anyway, if the script works and install KBs, i guess for the patch tuesday of next month, i will have the problem again because the root issue isn't fix...

September 4th, 2015 5:13am

no updates installed after the script.

I checked updatesdeployment.log / wuhandler.log and windowsupdate.log for details.

- WUHandler.log says some Kbs are missing.

- UpdatesDeployment.log says

EnumerateUpdates for action (UpdateActionInstall) - Total actionable updates = 44

But also says lot of errors like that :

I followed this topic

http://eskonr.com/2015/04/sccm-2012-troubleshoot-client-software-update-issues/

And it's wrote :

click on settings(root\ccm\policy\machine\requestedconfig) ,click on CCM_updateCIassignment ,click the policyID ,on the right side, you will see information about the software update group.

check the policy version on the client and on the site server .now you know how to take it further troubleshooting. Good luck.

But how to check the policy version on from the site server ?

thanks
