Update 1 (KB978864) for FIM2010 RTM returns error - why?
I just tried to install the Update 1 for FIM 2010 - the kb number is 978864. But while configuring the SQL server or better the database the following error occurs: "Error 25009. The Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service setup wizard cannot configure the specified database. These workstattions have sexssions with open files on this server: " That's all - no additional information - also not in the msi-log. Any ideas what is going wrong here!? Did you stop the Sync Service and the FIM service before trying the install? Do you have open sessions to that DB? -Jeremy

I have only the Sync Service installed. We do not use the Portal. Yes - after the error I stopped the service before installing the update again. I rebooted the SQL and the FIM server before doing another try. I disabled the Sync Service because the Update installation seems to restart the service again. I tried so many things but nothing was helpful. And no more information available wether in the logs nor in the eventlog. Micha

Hi all, we found in SQL an error which says: "Login failed for user 'domain/FIMServer$'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Chech for previous errors. [Client: ip FIMServer] We created a new login in SQL for this account and set the SA right. Now it works. Micha
