Are you using any custom code into your site? it's a security issue and maybe it will make sense in the context of your application See this blog http://groups.google.com.au/group/microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices.development/browse_thread/thread/a360a02af5feefc2/e197ae672bb718de?#e197ae672bb718de Cheers, Hemendra-MCTS

Hi Muhammad Tariq Khan, What action did you perform when you were encountering this error? What permission does the user have? What is your MOSS server’s version? If your issue were the users get access denied in a sub-site, you can give access to the user at the site collection level and check the effect. Normally when you break the inheritance and give access to a user at sub-site level the user is automatically added at the site collection level. If for security purpose you don’t want to give read access at the site collection you can try to change this permissions to restricted access and test if it is also working. Determine permission levels and groups to use (Office SharePoint Server) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262690.aspx Hopefully this can help you. Rock WangRock Wang MSFT

Hi Rock Wang, I am using MOSS 2007 updated with SP2 (Version: 12.0.6425.1000) and working with Farm Adminitrator Rights. Regarding any action on MOSS 2007, I can't suggest which action is responsible for the error message (Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070005) because different users are doing their work simultaneously like Content Management, deploying workflows etc. As far as your query is concerned we have no issue in assigning right to user on sub-site level.
