Universal Connector - problem with alert about Distributed Application State.
I am trying to integrate SCOM with third party monitoring application using Universal Connector. What I would like to achieve is to receive alerts regarding general Distributed Application state. Currently I am able to receive (through Universal Connector) only events concerning states of objects inside Distributed Application. There is no general alert saying that Distributed Application <it's name> is in Error state. Can I get this kind of general alert for DA? Thanks in advance, Mark

Is the question: You can't get an alert in the SCOM, or you just can't get the alert to be sent through the connector? For an alert to be sent throug a connector, it needs to be generated in the console first. You could enable alerting for a DA by opening the health explorer on the DA and override the alert settings of the root monitor. Once you can confirm that an alert has been generated in your console, the next step it to configure the Universal Connector to generate an xml based on alerts matching criteria of your DA alert.

Hi, As David said, by default the roll-up monitors in a distributed application do not alert. This thread explains how to enable alerting for invividual component groups of a distributed applicaion: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/3a461626-c723-40b6-a7fc-328b739f7c80/#ad1b1893-e1f8-47b9-8e8d-e6ed5851f0a2 MattMatt White ( http://systemcenterblog.hardac.co.uk/ - @matthewwhite )
