Understanding Package Replication / Storage Requirements
Hi All, I was wondering whether someone might be able to point me to an article or explain the difference between how Secondary Sites and Branch Distribution Points store and transfer package files? I know in SMS we always struggled with cleaning up old PCK files and I'm wondering whether going with a Branch Distribution Point vice a Secondary Site with a single Standard Server DP would have any benefits related to handling this sort of maintenance. Also, in general, is there guidance on what do so with old PCK files? If you have a single distribution point on a Site Server, it seems like the PCK overhead (compression aside) would basically double your space footprint. Any advice? Thanks!Bryan Berns

Hey Bryan, This article is pretty good http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693570.aspx on Secondary sites VS BDPS This guide is very good when it comes to files, replications etc between the sites - http://blogs.technet.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-PostAttachments/00-03-34-44-65/ConfigMgr2007Site2SiteReplication.docKent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
