Unable to use custom expression with attributes contributed by a Lotus Notes MA with FIM 2010
Hi Everyone, I'm using a Lotus Notes MA with FIM 2010 and I'm trying to use a custom expression(Word, Concatenations essentially) on an inbound attribute flow to manipulate some attributes. Everytime I try to use a custom expression (regardless of which one), I've got a synchronization error stating that the type of the argument of my function is "Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.Impl.GenericValueCollection" where a string type was expected. The attribute in Domino is definetly a string(so is my attribute in the MV) so I'm not sure why FIM believes it's something else. I've tried to use the same function in an outbound attribute flow to see if the data would be of the right type once it comes out of the MV but with no success. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Which attribute(s) are you trying manipulate? Some of the Lotus Notes MA seem to indicate string, but are actually multi-valued attributes, e.g. FullName. I don't have access to an environment at the moment, but I have run across this in the past. Cheers, Marc Marc Mac Donell, ILM MVP, VP Identity and Access Solutions, Avaleris Inc.

I had confirmation by an MCS consultant. The problem is two-fold: - you can't use that sort of transformation when the source attribute is multi-valued (I didn't realise until now) - Lotus Domino schema is not strongly type therefore even what appear to be a single-valued attribute is considered multi-valued by FIM hence why I couldn't do a simple "firstname + lastname -> displayname" . In other words, I have to use rules extension to handle this. Thanks everyone for your help. Sofiane
