Unable to use a data source with stored credentials in Report Builder, login failed for user 'domain\username'
Hi We have a data source stored on our reports server which uses a SQL login for the stored credentials. Under security I can see myself as a user with "Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder" rights on the data source. When I use this data source in reports created through Visual Studio it works fine. But if I try to use this data source in Report Builder 2, it prompts me for credentials when I click on the Query Designer button. When I enter my credentials it gives an error which reads "Unable to connect to data source 'DataSource1'", and in the details it says "Login failed for user 'domain\username'". I also have dbo rights on the database which this data source is points to. It seems that it wants the SQL login which the data source stores, but neither myself or the users will ever know this logins password. I need to be able to use a data source which stores its own separate credentials but doesn't prompt the user to supply this credentials in Report Builder, is this possible at all? Also, we cannot use Report Models because the users need to use SQL stored procedures and table-valued functions to populate their datasets (unless I'm missing something with Report Models?). We are using SQL Server 2008 and I got this error in Report Builder 2.0.
