Unable to upgrade SEP to 12 on few Servers

Hi All,

We are upgrading our SEP client software to 12.1.6

SEP is getting upgraded on servers with SEP client 11.x successfully, but having issues on servers sep client 12.x(On very few servers upgrade of sep client 12.x to 12.1.6 was successful). We see that software was downloaded to cache folder in servers. Observed below logs in execmgr

Successfully prepared command line "C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\6b\Serverx64\Setup.exe" /S/v/qn

Command line = "C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\6b\Serverx64\Setup.exe" /S/v/qn, Working Directory = C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\6b\

Running "C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\6b\Serverx64\Setup.exe" /S/v/qn with 32bitLauncher

CreateProcess or CreateProcessAsUser failed to execute command line with recoverable error 0x80070005

Non fatal execution error 0x87d01100 encountered for program SEP 12.1 RU6 x64

Program SEP 12.1 RU6 x64 has been tried 5 times, will retry later

For every retry we see the same error and observed that multiple instance of symantec setup stup(setup.exe) in taskmanager.

As we see multiple programs of setup.exe is running due to rerun option selected in deployment and we suspected that above exit code due to User access control, Disabled in one of the server and tried, but same issue exits.

Tried changing switch parameters above with Setup.exe /s/v/qn, Setup.exe /v/qn, Setup.exe /s/v, Setup.exe /s/v"/qn" and Setup.exe /quiet, but same issue exits.

Please let me know what is the issue.

Thanks.

Hi,

we use the MSI from the Folder which Setup.exe also exists:

Example:

Sep64.msi /qb! /norestart /lv %temp%\SEP1216x64.log

or Sep.msi /qb! /norestart %temp%\SEP1216x86.log

I Also Found this

Good Luck

0x80070005 is access denied. Try installing using different account and see if that works.

make sure you have access to install .
