"SQL is running on a seperate DB server" I wonder if your sql SPN or other rights to sql are mucked up. Have you tried a site reset yet? that may or may not fix the problem, but it may expose a better error to troubleshoot with.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Thanks for the response! I have tried a site reset...no luck... When I look into the All Status Messages in the Status Message Queries, I have no message since 2/5...I see: "SMS Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system." over and over...It says to look for prior error messages...see this one quite a bit: "Updates failures occured during enforcement for assignment {B8D6BBF3-B576-4C4C-9B64-B0B7A79E4E48}. The operating system reported error 2147943176: The client of a component requested an operation which is not valid given the state of the component instance. "

If nothing is not working it would very difficult to troubleshoot through forum. However, you may need to check (very basic) 1. Restart the server 2. All the ConfigMgr services sre running? 3. Log files sitecomp.log etc .... Server has been rebooted...all services are started... sitecomp.log has this message repeating over and over: ERROR: Still waiting for SMS_INBOX_MANAGER to create the "Status Manager" inbox. Sleeping for 60 seconds. The operating system reported error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Anyone?

I can get status messages from before 2/5...I've tried going back to look for errors...just not seeing a smoking gun...

I am unable to start ConfigMgr Service Manager, I have an error on my SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP (SMS Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.) , and I'm unable to refresh any collections (hourglass never goes away...even after a reboot)...also, it doesn't seem to be discovering any new resources...Everything was running fine till about 11 days ago till I patched the sccm server (I uninstalled the patches...no luck)...SQL is running on a seperate DB server...everything else runs on 1 server...we have one site...I've tried to do a site reset...no dice... Can some one point out the correct log files I need to view to sort this out?
