Unable to setup DPM client using ConfigureSharepoint.exe on Sharepoint 2013 Front End Server

I'm trying to setup one of our 2013 front-ends to backup to DPM, the server OS is Windows 2008 R2 SP1.

When running ConfigureSharepoint.exe -EnableSharepointProtection I get the message 'No Sharepoint Installation was detected on the local machine'.

I'm running this as an elevated user on the front end server and I'm logged onto the server as the Farm admin account. The server was rebooted after the DPM 2012 agent was pushed.

I have unregistered the wsswriter using stsadm -o unregisterwsswriter and tried again but still no joy running the ConfigureSharepoint.exe for the DPM agent (did this based on another post I'd found).

After successfully registering wsswriter as the farm admin still no joy.

Has anyone had this issue before and be able to give a bit of advice.

Hi fraserd,

According to your description, my understanding is that you were unable to setup DPM using ConfigureSharePoint.exe on SharePoint 2013 front End Server.

As it issue is related to DPM and Microsoft have a dedicated forum "DPM for SharePoint Protection", I suggest you create a new thread on the forum. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

Wendy,

Thank you very much for the reply, I've got numerous links and followed a number of guides prior to posting on this forum and the SharePoint Protection forum. I will add a further information to the post made on the SharePoint Protection forum. My concern was the 'No SharePoint Installation was detected' message, I wasn't sure whether this could be a configuration issue for SharePoint and was doubling my chances of a getting help by posting in both forums.

Kind Regards
