Hi, We are having 1 SCCM Primary site & 4 Secondary sites. now from last 1 month, i am not able to see advertisements on two of our Secondary sites. When i clicked on advertisement on these Secondary sites SCCM Console, it's showing blank. but on primary site & other two secondary sites, i am able to see all advertisements. Kindly tell me how to resolve this issue. Dhiraj

Hi, Secondary servers don't have a management console. Are you talking about a primary child server?Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

Hi, i cannot be because SCCM secondary site doesn't has a management console.Seems like that you have install the management console on the secondary site server. What ever related to secondary site activities can be seen only on the primary site console only.you can see the advertisement under software distribution. In the management console under computer management you can see the software distribution which is common for your site hierarchy.Coz sccm secondary site doesn't contain any management console . A secondary site doesn't contain any database as well. it reports to primary site. Check the below link for further reference. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632547.aspx Sanka

Hi, I agree with you that Secondar site doesn't have Database installed. but if Secondary site doesn't have Admin Console, how a secondary site admin can deploy Softwares/Check client status/run reports etc. Do you mean every time everybody has to login into the Primary site only & from there they can do the deployment. If this is the case what someone can do if he is having 1 Primary site & 10 secondary sites. how 10 secondary site admin can deploy softwares as they can't take remote of primary site bcoz in windows 2003 only two session & 1 console is available by default. Is here any other way to administer secondary site without logging int primary site admin console. Dhiraj

Doesn't matter the no of secondary sites you have.what ever the secondary site you installed it will comes under primary site which it will report.under the site setting you can see the secondary site.Computer management is GLOBAL for hierarchy.if you want to deploy softwares only to secondary site copy the content to relevant DP and target to relevant collection. Yes you can install Admin console on workstation, but it doesn't mean that is secondary site Admin console. When you install it will connect to site DB and pull out the information on the site hierarchy. Its not recommended to install Admin console in secondary site server. I'm going to not comment on the politics of your decision to install the Admin Console on your Secondary Site Servers. That was a political, NOT a technical decision. There is no Technical reason to have installed the Admin Console on the Secondary Site. None whatsoever. To answer the question of "I had installed an Admin Console version ConfigMgr07 SP1, and since introducing ConfigMgr07 SP2 into the environment, those Admin Consoles no longer list Advertisements". That is a 100% known technical issue, with a technical solution. For ANY AdminConsole Installations, you need to upgrade those console installations to be Admin Console ConfigMgr07 SP2.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Thanks Sherry!!! this was the answer i was expectng. i wanted to know the technical reason (if any) because there is no logical reason, not to Install Admin Console on Secondary site. I wil try to install Admin Console ConfigMgr07 SP2 & will let you know the results. Dhiraj

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgradminconsole/thread/7c31b2d6-130c-46d6-b24d-108110cb0b61 I read somewhere (could swear I did) that installing the SCCM console on a Secondary Site Server is actually not supported and can cause some problems for you (even if it lets you do it intially). You can read the above post to get Wally's answer as well as an admin that had done it at his location to over 40 site servers. I myself NEVER install the console on a Secondary. vNext may be different but for now I'd avoid it.
