Had a problem last week accessing the console. Log files and everything seemed ok but just lost access to console. The issue appears to have been one of WMI. it was showing as inconsistent. After doing a winmgmt/salvagerepository this appeared the fix the problem in that we can now access the console and all appears ok (appears !)
