Unable to install sharepoint service on Server 2003.
I am trying to install the sharepoint service on a server 2003. I have tried sharepoint 3.0 with no service pack and sharepoint 3.0 with SP2. Both failed with a message saying I had to install and enable ASP.NET 2.0. I remembered that I did enable the ASP.NET when I added the application server role. I even removed and added the application server role again. However the same error message still occured.

Thanks guys, Through the process above, I found my ASP.NET was v1.1.4322. How can I update it? As far as I know my system is fully up to date. The server is a Standard Edition with Service Pack 2 and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 with 3.5 SP1.

wait a sec - you have .NET 3.5 installed. Then run the following command to install ASP.NET 2.0: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i

Thank you! I've got it working after running your given command. By the way, I wonder why we didn't install v3.5 since I already had v3.5 .NET installed.
