When I try to install SCCM 2007 SP2 I get to the point where I am downloading pre-reqs and it fails with "Failed to download prerequisite component" comes up. I have tried clearing out the folder I am downloading pre-reqs to but get the same problem. It is failing on wmirdist.msi every time. Looking at the ConfigMgrSetup.log in the root of C:\ I see the following: <08-15-2012 23:37:02> Downloading http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=95743 as wmirdist.msi <08-15-2012 23:37:09> checking if there's an explicit proxy server. <08-15-2012 23:37:09> WinHttpQueryHeaders() in Download() returned Not Found <08-15-2012 23:37:09> Download() failed with 0x80004005 Trying the download link above I get a page can not be found error. I have tried googling for the above file but they all link to this page that cant be displayed. The component appears to be WMI Redistributable Components version 1.0. Can anyone please advise if there is a new cab file with a new download link for this file or a fix coming? I can't install SCCM till it is resolved. There is nothing special with my network. I am installing in a VMWare workstation instance running on my laptop which is currently connected over my home DSL connection. So no proxy servers or anything, it is just strait NAT. I should also mention I am installing a technet verison. I think the media is the same but just in case it isn't.

Having the exact same issue here. Also, the link to the WMI redistributable package at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18998 is unavailable as well. Going to the url specified in the log, http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=95743, does not work. I also tried running the setup /download <path> command on several other workstations/servers to exclude security settings which I thought could be the issue preventing the download of a msi file.

I have tried escalating this with Microsoft again. Hopefully should be resolved soon. I also managed to get a copy of the pre-req folder from work and was able to do the install. I can't upload the files anywhere though as I am sure Microsoft will send their attack lawyers after me if I do. I will leave this unanswered till they resolve it.
