Unable to deploy KB2553284

Hi all,

During this month's update cycle we ran into an issue with KB2553284 for office 2010.

We were trying to deploy to our Windows 7 32 bit lab clients, and the deployment would stall with no apparent errors, the machines would  not even get the software update prompt to start downloading and installing the content.

Once we narrowed down to this KB causing the issue, removing it form the update list fixed the problem, and all the other updates installed just fine, but we are still unable to deploy this to any Win7 32 bit OS.

Checking at a few reports on some of the clients, we found this:

Description

SMS internal
error occurred for the update ad15f7fd-868e-4cc3-8cd0-826af83eb4f4. The
operating system reported error -2147219868:

But that's about the only error code we could find. None of the other logs show any type of error. The update deployment log show the updates eing offered to the machine, but to no avail:

Queried Update (49d4cda1-73a4-4378-827c-188be9b01914): Status=Missing, Title=Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553284) 32-Bit Edition, BulletinID=MS13-091, QNumbers=2553284, LocaleID=.

Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated, i can provide any log file if necessary

Thanks,

Check that the language files that correspond to your Office installation languages has been downloaded.

Highlight the update and look under the tab "Content Information".

With some Office patches all languages are not downloaded by default and this is one of them.

We're having similar problems.  The WSUS/SCCM file works on our Win7 boxes, but fails on WinXP.

When I look at SCCM, there is only one entry for English.  Sometimes there are some with no language, but not for this patch.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!
