Unable to delete workflow listed in SharePoint Designer 2013

Hi,

There is a workflow listed in SharePoint Designer which has lost it's association to a list somehow. I would like to remove this workflow but when selecting the object and choosing Delete from the context menu, the workflow still remains; despite the screen refreshing and taking a little while doing "something".

If I try to save the workflow an error appears stating the workflow has not been checked-out.

I'm also experiencing another issue that I have posted in the following post; https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/44799baf-79f9-48ee-aca3-55c78b64ab31/sharepoint-designer-2013-workflow-not-visible-to-users-other-than-author?forum=sharepointcustomization

I suppose the issues may be related.

Does anyone have some ideas on how to fix?

Hi,

For your issue, Try to do the following:

  1. To determine whether the issue is resulted by SharePoint Designer, Try to access the workflow from SharePoint Designer installed on another computer and check whether you can delete the workflow from SharePoint Designer installed on another computer.
  2. Check whether the user who created the workflow can delete the workflow.
  3. Clear your SharePoint Designer Cache and delete it again. Refer to the following posts on how to do this: http://benprins.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/sharepoint-designer-clearing-the-cache/ and http://www.stuartroberts.net/index.php/2012/07/18/quick-tip-9/.

Hi Lisa,

I had tried points 1 and 2 already. I deleted the cache as suggested just now and unfortunately the problem still exists.

Thanks anyhow,

Peter

Hi,

Use a powershell script to delete the workflow.

Let me know if you need assistance with the script.

I hope this will help you out.
