Unable to create new site systems, need help troubleshooting
I've got an SCCM SP2 R2 site and I am trying to add a new distribution point. I am able to go through the wizard and create the new site system without any problems. After I create the new DP, I go into one of my packages and tell it to push the source to the new DP. I am able to select the new DP, no problem there...After that, Distribution Manager starts complaining that it can't process the package. The status message says it could be one of the following: Distribution Manager doesn't have access to the source folder- I know it does, this package copies to other DPs OK. Not enough disk space- I know this isn't an issueThe source folder contains files that are in use- not an issueThe weird part is that when I go to site system status or component status, the new server name isn't even listed. I'm pretty sure it isn't a problem with the new server (that I'm trying to add) because I've tried to add 2 different servers today and they both do the same thing... I am using the SCCM server account to install the site system and it is in the local admin group on the servers. How do I go about troubleshooting this?

The site server account is in the domain admins group. It has admin privs on the DP.I've waited over the weekend and it still is not showing up.I'm looking at DISTMGR.LOG and it says "Cannot establish connection". Why would that be? I can map to it and open it with a UNC path. I'm confused. Here is the section of the log file:Start adding package to server ["Display=\\FileServer1\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\FileServer1\... $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.140 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=1192 (0x4A8)>~["Display=\\FileServer1\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\FileServer1\ is NOT a Branch DP $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.141 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=1192 (0x4A8)>Attempting to add or update a package on a distribution point. $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.142 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=4196 (0x1064)>for ["Display=\\FileServer1\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\FileServer1\, machine account is to be used~ $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.142 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=4196 (0x1064)>STATMSG: ID=2342 SEV=I LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER" SYS=TESTSCCM2 SITE=DEV PID=2476 TID=5928 GMTDATE=Mon Mar 01 13:55:06.156 2010 ISTR0="Forefront DefinitionsOLD" ISTR1="["Display=\\TESTSCCM2\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\TESTSCCM2\" ISTR2="" ISTR3="" ISTR4="" ISTR5="" ISTR6="" ISTR7="" ISTR8="" ISTR9="" NUMATTRS=2 AID0=400 AVAL0="DEV00022" AID1=404 AVAL1="["Display=\\TESTSCCM2\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\TESTSCCM2\" $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.156 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=5928 (0x1728)>~Cannot establish connection to ["Display=\\FileServer1\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=DEV"]\\FileServer1\ $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.184 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=4196 (0x1064)>Error occurred. $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.184 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=4196 (0x1064)>Performing error cleanup prior to returning. $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER><Mon Mar 01 07:55:06.184 2010 Central Standard Time><thread=4196 (0x1064)>Any ideas?Thanks,Janet

I fixed my problem. The server I was trying to add had a problem with IIS or maybe Webdav. I removed and reinstalled IIS and the problem went away. Not sure what the problem was but its gone now.
