Unable to create a web application with host header in dev env
Hi all, I am trying to create an extranet and intranet site. For that I started creating a web application in my dev. environment using a host header Port: 110; Host Header: intranet.yankee.org Authentication: NTLM Allow anonymous: NO Zone: Default Gave Database name Then created a site collection using team template. When trying to access http://intranet.yankee.org I get nothing on the page. But, when I go to hosts file and add ip address and intranet.yankee.org, then it asks for authentication and does not let me in at all even I try with super user which I gave on when create site collection. Any help apprecitated. Thanks

So you can create the new web application with the Host header, you can also create a site collection under this web application. Make sure that the account you are using is site collection admin or has rights to the site. Are getting the error if you browse from another computer? Have a look at this kb: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 Did you add the site to IE local intranet zone? Serge Tremblay MVP SharePoint
