Unable to connect to server from console - SDK Error
Good afternoon: Just installed SCE2007 on a Win2k3_sp2 virtual machine in a Virtual Server environment and I am unable to connect the console to the server. I am getting the following error "Failed to connect to server 'Server1' The sdk service is either not ru running or not yet initalized." Need a little help here. Below is more info. ********************************** Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. Please run Feature configuration Wizard before connecting to SCE Server from Remote UI. Also ensure that there is no firewall blocking the connection to the SCE Server.

Are you able to launch the UI on the local machine? Is the UI machine managed by system center essentials?

I am getting the same thing... does anyone have any explanation for this? Originally the SDK service was not started on the server, so I set it to automatic and then was able to connect. But when I entered my username and password I received the same error. When I check the SDK service on the server, it is again stopped.

I am running SCOM and have been getting these errors when connecting a Management Server Operator Console in Switzerland to the RMS in the US. What is the Feature Configuration Wizard you are referring to? Thanks.

Did you find a solution to this? I am stuck with the same problem and trying to find a solution without having to pay $259.00 to Microsoft for support.

Hi, For questions about System Center Operations Manager 2007, please use the Microsoft public newsgroups for SCOM (microsoft.public.opsmgr.setup) which would be the most relevant newsgroup for your question. microsoft.public.opsmgr.setuphttp://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.opsmgr.setup Hope it helps.-----------------------------Sincerely,Guozhen WangMicrosoft Online Community Support

Hi,You need to check whether "OPSMgr Sdk Service" is present and running. After running this service if you still get same error the go to "C:\Program Files\system Center Operations Manager 2007\Tools\" click on StartTrace.bat and after getting it started click onStopTrace.bat. Retry to open SCOM console. Now this should open without error.ThanksShalini

Hi aanchaljain18 , for reference the OpsMgr sdk service is the same as the System Center Data Access service. It's the same thing.Have you tried running it under a Domain Admin Account? Tim

I had the same issue. I think it is a registry corruption, I ran the repair (insert SCOM CD and choose repair) and restarted, then it worked as it suppose to work.--Hicham

Hi, I just installed SCOM (2007 R2 CU4) and tried to create management packs. - When I click create I received the same error. My environment: SCOM-MGT01 (RMS Server) CORE-SQL01 (Shared SQL server hosting SCOM db) SCOM-RPT01 (SQL server hosting SCOM DW db and SCOM/SQL reports) I reviewed everything - ended up changing the rights of the SDK account on the SQL database --> I upgraded them to db_owner of the SCOM database, restarted the “System Center Data Access” on the RMS server (where I was attempting to run the console locally from to create the mgmt pack. All working. Cheers. ----------------------------------- My internal doco/notes with generalised names : NOTE: If you receive an error message about the SDK service not being started, login to the SCOM SQL server (CORE-SQL01), launch the SQL mgmt. console, expand databases, select SCOM_DB->Security->Users->SDK Account->Properties then add permissions to “db_owner” Restart the “System Center Data Access” service on RMS server: SCOM-MGT01. -----------------------------------

Hi all, I had this same stupid error "the sdk service is either not running or not yet initialized". Regarding my issue, it was simply caused because the name which appears on the "Connect To Server"-"Registered Servers" wasn't up-to-date. So I changed the name by the new one, and my problem was solved. Cheers,
