Unable to connect to WMI
Hi, I tried to do SCCM agent client install through GPO but having some issue with WMI. When checked at cm.log I found this: ---> Unable to connect to WMI on remote machine "SCCMTEST2", error = 0x800706ba. and also, when I try to connect to WMI console from SCCM server to the machine SCCMTEST2 it will give the following error: ---> (refer IMG http://imgur.com/nk37B&rD7Ajl ) and this is my GPO settings for WMI: ---> refer IMG http://imgur.com/nk37Bl&rD7Aj additional settings on GPO: Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Network/Network Connections/Windows Firewall/Domain Profile and Standard Profile Quote: Windows Firewall: Allow file and printer sharing exception Enabled Allow unsolicited incoming messages from: localsubnet Windows Firewall: Allow remote administration exception Enabled Allow unsolicited incoming messages from: localsubnet I have ran gpupdate /force on client machine, but still unable to connect to WMI what could be the issue here...? Thanks in advanced for any advice :)---Packie

That does not make sense to me. You mentioned that you are trying to install the client using a GPO (-> there's no incoming traffic involved from a client's point of view; so it could be no firewall issue). Then you mentioned cm.log (I guess it's ccm.log on the siteserver)? That is used for client push installation (firewall is of interest because the siteserver is contacting the client; incoming traffic from a client's point if view). So please add details.

Try this: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys/archive/2010/10/20/configmgr-client-startup-script.aspx It is a startup script that fixes wmi and permissions. You could also try wmidiag.vbs that could be found on Microsoft site. Could you verifiy that the DNS name sccmtest2 is pointing to correct ip? I have seen this issue where scavenging is not running on the dns servers. Causing multiple names pointing to same IP.... OHM www.moe.am

Do you possibly have two install methods installed and you are confused about what logs to view? Seems like you are talking about client push but you mention GPO. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Hi John, Yes.. im trying to push client install via Group Policy. And when I checked ccm.log there's an error on WMI as I have stated above. So I think once I fixed this WMI things, I will be able to push client install via GPO method :) Hi Torsten, Yes, it is ccm.log, sorry for the typo error.---Packie

im trying to push client install via Group Policy. That does not exist in ConfigMgr. It's either a client push installation OR a group policy installation. Are you using the GPO just for configuring the stuff that's on the screenshot? Then it's not an installation via group policy. Please provide some more lines of ccm.log.

I have finally fixed the WMI/RPC error issue by referring here: http://www.10-strike.com/networkinventoryexplorer/help/wmi.shtml Failed to connect to \\remotehost because "Win32: The RPC server is unavailable." It was Windows Firewall: Allow remote administration exception not enabled :)---Packie

what i'm trying to achieve is to install Configuration Manager Clients Using Group Policy. ... but now you're installing using client push. That's different. You're now using http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632380.aspx.
