Unable to Understand Report Model Autogeneration rules
Hi all, I am having a weird issue I am pretty confident that the issue is because my lack of understanding of Report Model. So below is my doubt. I have created two different DSVs using two different Fact tables and bunch of Dim Tables. One of the fact tables lets assume FactTableA has two metrics the AccountCount (0,1,2.........) and the AccountAmount (-999.99 to 999.99). So when I generate a report model against the FactTableA I get following attributes Total Account Count, Avg Account Count, # Account Count etc.... and same for Account Amount. In my report builder query designer when I query for Total Account Count and # Account Count they match row by row... Same when I query for Total Account Amount and # Account Amount I get the same results in each row. Matching row by row means what ever I get for # Account Count is the same for Total Account Count in each row... But when I create a Model using my FactTableB which just has one metric column Activity Count (0/1) I again get the same number of attributes But this time when I browse my data in Query Designer for Report builder I get just one row returning 1 for # Activity Count and Sum of 1's for Total Activity Count. I am not able to understand why am I getting two different sets of results for similar queries.....

Hi VikasNahar, It seems that FactTableB has two values (0,1), right? Please correct me if my understanding is wrong. In that case, I am afraid you get one row when browsing data in Query Designer is right. There are only 1 record for Activity Count and Total Activity Count. For more information about the topic, please refer to the following article, Using Formulas in Report Model Queries (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210538.aspx Hope that helps you. Thanks, Eileen
