Unable to Run Reports
Anytime I try to run a report, IE opens to the following error: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map. At the bottom of the error page, it directs me to this Microsoft KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942032/ I've been trying to figure out what needs to be configured but am having a hard time. I've done some googling to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jeff

I've not seen that specific error scenario before, but what I can offer is: * Ensure that the reporting point site system role is installed on a site system * Verify that the SMS Reporting Host service is running on that site system * Verify that it is working by launching IE and going to http;//reportingpointservername/smsreporting_sitecode If that works, it will bring up the SMS Reports viewer, which you can then launch any reports. If that works, then all that is required for others is to have: * Membership in the SMS Reporting Users group * Read rights to the Site class * Read rights to run the individual reports (or class Read rights)

Wally, Thanks for the info. We had ASP.NET installed but not just ASP on IIS 7, so I guess the ASP.NET was not sufficient. Adding the ASP role fixed the issue. Thanks again, Jeff

Hi! I had the same problem and i solved it also with adding the ASP role. I think it would be helpful when the document "How to Configure Windows Server 2008 for Site System Roles" gets updated, because the point "Adding ASP Role" is currently missing. Thanks for the reply! Best Regards from Germany, Michael

It's even in the docs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb681030(TechNet.10).aspx: "Active Server Pages must be installed and enabled" ;-)

Hi all,I've just reviewed this topic athttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspxand I'm seeing the requirement for ASP when when the server will be used as a reporting point (it's in this note in the first procedure after step 4): Note ASP should also be selected if the site system will be configured as a reporting point. Do you think it would be more easily found if I added this information as a bullet instead of a note?Because that topic covers installing IIS for multiple site system roles, I've used a note to call it out specifically for the reporting point.I'm always interested in hearing feedback about the documentation and ways to improve its usability, so if the information is hard to find or could be presented in a different way that would be more helpful, please do let me know. Thanks,~Jeff Jeff Gilbert, Senior Technical Writer - Configuration Manager 2007

Hi Jeff, I think it will be more useful if you type it as a bullet...the admins may not know what is a reporting point when configuring Windows 2008 for SCCM... Thanks GuillermoGV
