Ugly SSRS Front Page?!
Is there any way to make the SSRS Front page (Home page) a little better? I've seen SSRS used at some sites, where the Home Page looks much more professional than the default one. I don't really want to go and edit the asp pages and do a lot of manual stuff to make this happen. Any other better way? Thanks

Why not make a simple HTML page and add the reports as hyperlinks? The end result can be beautiful, the downside being that everytime you add a new report, you will have to manually add it to the HTML page (which I think is still a small price to pay for what you can achieve). I normally use this techniques, I even use a little bit of JavaScript to create directories which can be used to group the reports, and then they would expand and collapse accordingly.Cheers, Jason P.S. : Please click the 'Mark as Answer' button if a post solves your problem! :)

I've created a folder on the main page (apart from data sources, model etc., ) called reports and it has several fub folders which hold reports. So I'm not worried about the pages where actually the reports are available. I just want to make the main default home page where you see data sources and model etc, to be better. Include the logo of the company and put in some info etc.,

Hi adbauser09,According to your description , I learn that you want to customize the homepage style sheets of your report manager ,right? If so ,please follow these steps:1. You must predefine your valid cascading style sheet(.css) file.2. Locate the file into the Styles folder ,by default : <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportManager\Styles (for SSRS2005) <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.SERVERNAME\Reporting Services\ReportManager\Styles (for SSRS2008)3. Type <HTMLViewerStyleSheet> setting into the <Configuration> selection of the RSReportServer.config file and then specify the style sheet you want to use. By default, the <HTMLViewerStyleSheet> setting is not included in the RSReportServer.config file e.g.<Configuration>... <HTMLViewerStyleSheet>MyStyleSheet</HTMLViewerStyleSheet>...</Configuration>4.Open the homepage of your report manager ,you will see what your homepage depending on your cascading style sheet fileIf you still have questions about it ,please supply your detail propurse ,I am happy at your service. Thanks Challen Foo

But it's just more than changing the style sheet. But the above process seems more manual. Is there any we can use frontpage or something easier (as I'm not a web developer) so I can add more stuff to the homepage and some logo and make it look a bit better. The above solution seems very manual and like I said, I'm not a web developer. If someone can tell me exactly which directory and which files to edit using front page or some microsoft tool that doesn't need too much coding (just like chaging a html file on front page), it would be helpful.

Hi, By default, we can not modify them casually because the ASPX pages is compiled to assemblies. However, I found “hard-code” ways to do this as follows: You could replace the image files (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.X\Reporting Services\ReportManager\images\48folderopen.jpg as well as all the other files in that directory named 48*.jpg) with your corporate logo, while, those images do serve some use - they change depending on the current function you're performing in the site. If you are willing to spend lots of time, you also can develop your own web application for homepage of report manager or embed the logo in every report. If this does not help, please submit your feedback to Microsoft Connect http://connect.microsoft.com/ This site is a connection point between you and Microsoft, and ultimately the larger community. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be. Hope this helpfully. Best regards. Challen Foo .
