USMT STuff
I have created 2 task sequences.  The first to capture USMT settings and the second to restore the USMT settings.  Within CM2012 I have deployed both to the ALL SYSTEMS collection and made them available.

We have several buildings at our company so each is on different subnets.  In buildings 1, 2 & 3 I can log into any Windows 7 workstation, open up Software Center and see both task sequences.  But, in building #4 I don't see them.  But, and here is the odd part, in building #4 when I look in Software Center I see ALL other software, just not the two USMT task sequences.

I have stopped and started the SMS Host Agent and rebooted yet they never show up.  What could cause that to ha

Hi,

Have you retrieved the Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle from the client in building #4? Any error in Policyagent.log?

Yes I have, many times, I have rebooted and stopped/started the sms host agent.  nothing works.

No, I have not seen any errors in PolicyAgent.log.   I have confirmed that the machines in building #4 are within the All Systems collection within CM2012.   I have even created a new deployment just to building #4 for this task sequence and it still never shows up.  Yet, all other software does show up in Software Center.

What else can I look at or try?

I did see some posts about the ProvisioningMode registry key being set to TRUE.  I check on a few machines in building #4 and this key is set to FALSE.      So on one of the machines in building #4 I did a PXE boot and re-imaged the machine, just to see if that task sequence worked, and it did.    So our New OS task sequence works fine.  The only thing is No task sequence shows up in software center.

I have even created a new task sequence and advertised it to All Systems.   Buildings 1,2,3 all see it. Building 4 does not.   How on earth can that be?   To building 4 I can build new OS machines via task sequence, I can deploy software and I can deploy patches.   it is only task sequences that don't show in software center.   What can cause this for 1 building?  is this a subnet or boundary issue?

It is not boundary related either.   I created a new IP Address Range boundary and added 1 machine in building 4.  It Only sees Applications in software center.  It does Not see any OS task sequences in software center.

I see no errors in the log either.   What can cause this?  it is a major problem since we need to use USMT on hundreds of machines that are getting hardware refreshed.

I even created a new collection, placed 1 machine in this collection, and then deployed the task sequence to this collection.  Yet the TS never shows up in software center.

I found a PowerShell script online that runs any task sequence for you.   I ran this on machines in buildings 1,2 & 3 and it works.  It will prompt you for the TS you want to run and then run it.

But, when I run this on a machine in building 4 powershell gives me this error:

Executing task sequence [Capture USMT Settings]...
Failed to execute the task sequence [Capture USMT Settings]
At C:\Temp\CTS.ps1.ps1:27 char:22
+                 Throw <<<<  "Failed to execute the task sequence [$name]"
+ CategoryInfo          : OperationStopped: (Failed to execu... USMT Setti
   ngs]:String) [], RuntimeException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Failed to execute the task sequence [Capture USM
   T Settings]

$name is this case is Capture USMT Settings.

ALL Windows 7 workstations share the same GPO so I rule that out.  All Windows 7 workstations get the same McAfee polices so I rule that out.

What on earth is causing this to happen?
