UPD not replicating to client pc but Model Specific Is ??

I have been researching this issue for quite some time and have not found a solution yet.

I have a customer that has various RICOH MFD's in their fleet and decided to use the UDP 4.6 to make it easier.

That initial installation went fine.  They later received a directive to change a default settings to Duplex.  That is when the issue came. When they made a change on the server and then pushed out the change nothing happened on the other end.

We conducted 3 tests on a sandbox server.

1. Ricoh UDP - replication of custom settings failed.

2. HP UDP - replication of custom settings failed.

3. Ricoh Model Specific Driver- Replication of successful.

My question is what is the difference between the two types that prohibits the UDP from replicating what is on the print server?

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Firstly, I would say a HP universal printer driver can't be used by other manufacturers' printers.

Secondly, as the universal printer driver they generally just provide the basic function for the printer. But the Model specific driver which is perticularly designed/made for this model and it provided a full solution to this specific printer model.

So we recommand to use the printer model specific driver instead of the universal printer driver.

As why the changes you made in the Ricoh universal printer driver didn't take effect, I would suggest you to consult with the Ricoh.

You can check the below link to know more about the universal printer driver:

Hope it helps.
