Trying to import the UEV Configuration Items into SCCM

Running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1

I create the cab file as per instructions.  I didn't change anything yet in the policy itself except for add the settings template path.

I go to Configuration Items -> Import Configuration Data

Add the cab file that was created from the tool, and get the error on Confirmation of import:

UE-V Agent Policy [ The CI contains a missing or invalid CI Reference.]

I have no idea where to even look to get a better error message, because that is pretty vague so far.

Thank you!

Hi Can you upload a copy of the command line that you are using to generate the cab file?

Hi Can you upload a copy of the command line that you are using to generate the cab file?

Indeed. I have tried this numerous ways, and also in powershell. All running as an administrator of course

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft User Experience Virtualization\ConfigPack>UevAg
entPolicyGenerator.exe -site s01 -cabfilepath "c:\cabfiles\UevPolicyItem.cab" -ConfigurationFile "C:\configs\UevAgentConfiguration.xml"

The cab file creates fine.  When I go into the CM GUI, no matter where I try and import it from, I get that error.  I have tried importing directly from the site server and from my machine that can see the cab file that I created.

Thank you for your help with this!

Have ago with this

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft User Experience Virtualization\ConfigPack\UevTemplateBaselineGenerator.exe" -Site "s01" -TemplateFolder "path to templates here" -Register "MicrosoftNotepad.xml, MicrosoftOffice2013Win32.xml" -CabFilePath "C:\configs\UevAgentConfiguration.xml"

Just replace the TemplateFolder with the path to your templates and for the -Register  the templates that you want to register I've included two as an example.

This is to generate templates. I'm not even there yet. I can't get the UEV Policy to import into configuration manager as a configuration item.  I have to do the policy stuff first.

My proof of concept deadline is tomorrow and I have been smashing my head against a wall with barely anything to go with.

PS: The documentation says use UEVTemplateBaselineGenerator but the actual way to generate the policy is with the UEVagentpolicygenerator.exe first. I don't even have a CI to import the templates yet because I can't get there with the first command.

Thank you!

Hi

What I've sent you isn't to generate the templates, its to import your templates in order to generate a valid cab file. You need to have templates in order to create the configuration baselines for SCCM. SCCM needs to know that settings you want to manage for each application.

Makes sense. In the Agent Policy config file there are a bunch of template references so it is probably attempting to find those when trying to import the agent policy. I will start there.  Looks like their instructions were backwards - they seem to state to import the agent policy first and then create template baselines.

I will post later tonight to update if this works.

Thank you!

Still not working.

One question, does this need to be imported from a machine that has the UEV Agent installed?  I am doing this from the SCCM server (and also my personal machine) and I only have the UEV agent deployed right now to a test VM.

I wonder if it's just really a thing with R2 SP1.  I just upgraded in June to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and even completely unmodified I can't get this to work and I've seen several videos (for previous versions of SCCM 2012) that all seem to import without issue.

Hi

It can be imported without the UEV Agent being installed, were running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and we don't have any issues. If your in a rush to get it working you can manage it using group policy???
