Trying to add psexec as a remote task
Hi,I recently saw the post on the SCE blog which mentioned you can add psexec and use it as a remote command window tool.I followed the instructions to the letter but its not working. Go to the Authoring workspace In the navigation pane on the left hand side, expand Management Pack Objects and select Tasks From the Tasks pane, select Create a New Task Select Command Line from the Console Tasks folder and click Next In the Task Name field, type "Remote Command Window" In the Description type "Use the SysInternals PsExec tool to open a remote command window for the selected computer. PsExec must be installed on the computer with the Essentials console." In the Task Target, click Select and then choose Windows Computer and click OK Click Next In the Application field, type the full path the psexec.exe on the Essentials console (e.g. C:\pstools\psexec.exe). If you have the console on multiple computers you will need psExec installed in the same location on each of them. Enter \\ then Click the arrow at the end of the Parameters field and select Net BIOS Computer Name, then add a space and enter cmd Uncheck the Display output when this task is run box Click Create When the command is run a DOS window appears and then disappears so you cant see the output - I enabled "Display output" and I get the following;PsExec v1.96 - Execute processes remotelyCopyright (C) 2001-2009 Mark RussinovichSysinternals - www.sysinternals.com The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.Connecting to ... Connecting to ...Couldn't access :Double checked all of the settings nothing wrong there and it does work from a command prompt. The only thing I noticed is that in the Parameters field its adding a space between "\\" and the NetBIOS variable - other than that everything is fine.anyone got a clue as to why this isn't working?

Hello, There should have no space between \\ and NetBIOS name. For example, "psexec \\marklap cmd". Is this space appears in the Parameters field? Or is this space appears when the command line was run? Thanks, Yog Li - MSFT

Hi,The space is added in the Parameters field. Another words when I add the command in authoring there is no space but when I save it and reopen the command the space has been added. Even if you strip out the space and re-save the command the space will come back again. If you follow the steps above you will exactly what I mean - it looks fine when you set it up - click Create and then re-open the command and the space will be there.Cheers,
